Rubio says Iran’s military capabilities have been reduced but threat remains Democratic Representative Dina Titus pressed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Iran’s military capabilities, noting that despite claims by President Donald Trump and other officials that Iran’s military had been severely weakened, ships were still coming under attack in the Strait of Hormuz. “So is the war still on or is the war off?” Titus asked. Rubio acknowledged that Iran still possesses small boats equipped with machine guns and retains some drone capabilities. However, he argued that Tehran no longer has the ability to carry out large-scale drone attacks using swarms as it once did. Titus also pointed out that the US military has been relying on costly weapons systems to intercept drones. Rubio agreed, saying: “That needs to change.”
